HISTORY
HISTORY
On February 24, 1976, Al Marzetta (the “Al” of Altek) and his business partner, Leo Kauppila, formed K&M Engineering & Tool, Inc in the Marzetta family’s garage. Business grew quickly, resulting in the need to relocate to a brick-and-mortar facility. The partnership dissolved in 1980, leaving Al with sole ownership, prompting him to rename the corporation Altek Machine & Molds, Inc. The company’s name was later shortened to Altek, Inc. in 1991.
The business continued to expand over the years, prompting Al to design and oversee the construction of a series of larger facilities to accommodate the organization's growth needs. The final build occurred in 1997, and resulted in Altek’s current 145,000 square foot facility.

Today, Altek is truly a one-stop-shop: consisting of a state-of-the-art Machine Shop, Mold Shop, Tool Room, and Paint & Assembly Shop where we provide “added value” for our customers. This includes, but is not limited to, pad and laser printing, masking and painting, EMI-RFI shielding, bonding, testing and assembly.

When Altek was first formed, much of the plastic injection molding technology and processes we take for granted today didn’t exist. What did exist was Al’s vision of a company that could provide a single resource for customer product design optimization, development and manufacturing. This vision is now a reality that has set Altek apart from its competitors.
Al’s natural skills and passion made Altek into a contract manufacturer that leads the industry in innovation, expertise and customer service. Altek is proud that its customers see the benefits of that passion everyday through creative solutions that bring products to market quickly, without sacrificing quality.

In 1997, Al’s second-born son, Mike Marzetta, became part of the Altek team after earning his master’s degree in Organizational Development and gaining valuable experience abroad. After spending five years learning the business, Mike was promoted to President, while Al assumed the role of CEO. Together, they brought different leadership styles, perspectives, and strengths to the organization. Their complementary knowledge and abilities proved instrumental in shaping Altek’s growth and establishing the company it is today.

Mike became a driving force behind Altek’s diversification into specialized and highly regulated industries, helping expand the company’s capabilities and establish certifications such as AS9100 for aerospace and ISO 13485 for medical devices. Altek evolved from its early manufacturing roots into a trusted partner serving some of the world’s most demanding industries. Today, Altek supports customers across aerospace, medical, space, technology, and defense, continuing the legacy of innovation, integrity, and excellence established by its founder.

Over the years, after receiving their advanced degrees and gaining outside experience, other members of the Marzetta family have joined the team in order to take up the mantle that Al began decades prior. This includes (in birth order) Andrea (Marzetta) Larson, Chris Marzetta, Tony Marzetta, and Joe Marzetta. Al's eldest son, Dave Marzetta, contributes valuable support as an advisor during the organization's shareholder meetings.

In the summer of 2025, the first member of the third generation became part of the Altek team. Corey Larson joined the IT/IS Department while completing his degree in Computer Science and Cybersecurity. His addition marks an exciting milestone for Altek as the next generation of the Marzetta family and Altek’s future.

In September 2025, Altek strategically welcomed Jacob Bonwell as Chief Operating Officer. Since joining the organization, Jacob’s leadership, experience, and contributions have exceeded expectations, driving meaningful improvements and creating positive momentum across Altek. With Jacob’s demonstrated success, combined with the shareholders’ aggressive goals for growth, profitability, and long-term sustainability, the shareholders determined that the time was right to begin Altek’s leadership transition. In August 2026, Jacob was promoted to President and CEO, assuming responsibility for leading Altek into its next chapter. At the same time, Mike transitioned to the role of Chief Innovation Officer, allowing him to remain actively engaged in a key leadership capacity while focusing on innovation, strategic initiatives, and the continued advancement of the organization.
The current ownership continues supporting Altek through their respective roles within the company while also remaining actively engaged as members of the Board of Directors with Mike as its Chairman.

The Marzetta family and Altek Team strives to uphold Altek’s Vision & Mission statement to serve our customers and to treat all the members of the organization like an extension of the family. This is what truly sets Altek apart!
Family-Owned. Family-Operated. Generational Legacy
