Rick Taylor: A Legacy of Excellence at Altek

Rick Taylor has been an integral part of Altek since its very beginning, embodying the essence of dedication and craftsmanship.

A skilled machinist by trade, Rick joined the company forty years ago this April 1st, starting on swing shift after relocating from California.

From the moment he stepped through the doors, it was clear that Rick was a standout talent.

Over the years, Rick's journey through the organization has been nothing short of remarkable. He has progressed from machinist to Machine Shop Manager, eventually rising to the role of Vice President, and most recently, Chief Operations Officer — where he has served as the President's right hand and trusted partner for decades.

Rick’s impact goes far beyond his technical expertise. His ability to navigate complex situations with diplomacy has made him the voice of Altek, both internally and externally. As Sales Team Leader, he has cultivated lasting relationships with customers, building bonds that will endure long after his tenure at Altek.

Rick’s commitment to the team is unmatched. Recently, when the machine shop was short-staffed and a new product needed to be delivered on time, Rick didn’t hesitate to step back into his machinist role (see photo), proving once again that he’s always willing to do whatever it takes for the success of the team.

Rick, your contributions are immeasurable, and your legacy at Altek is eternal. The platforms you helped create, like NIMA (formerly known as INWAC), stand as a testament to your vision and hard work. We are incredibly grateful for the impact you’ve had on Altek and the countless relationships you’ve nurtured over the years.

On behalf of the Marzetta family and the entire Altek team, thank you for all you have done to make Altek great. You are irreplaceable!

His extensive background includes collaborating with renowned original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) such as Airbus, Boeing, Rolls Royce, GE Aviation, and other industry leaders.

Coming from a family of six children, Chris was raised with values of loyalty, trust, and mutual support. He shares, “From my first interactions with the Marzetta family and Team Leaders, it was clear that Altek’s employees are like family, and their values mirror my own upbringing.”

Both Altek and Chris are thrilled about this partnership, and together, we look forward to achieving great things.

Altek is excited to welcome Chris Henson to the team. With over 30 years of experience in manufacturing, operations leadership, and business development, Chris has a proven track record of driving efficiency, growth, and innovation across industries like aerospace and medical manufacturing.

He’s successfully implemented lean manufacturing, led high-performing teams, and spearheaded continuous improvement initiatives. His success is rooted in his ability to engage all levels of an organization—from frontline employees to board executives—and cultivating strong customer relationships.

“It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Altek’s Founder, Al Marzetta.  Al lived to be eighty-three years old and built a wonderful legacy during his lifetime.  He passed away on June 25, 2024 surrounded by his family.

A Celebration of Life Service will take place at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Otis Orchards, Washington on July 13th, at 11am for those who wish to attend.  Al was laid to rest at St. Joseph's Cemetery at the Marzetta family plot on July 6th, 2024."

Altek is taking steps to reduce our energy footprint.  The newest upgrade to our system is a more efficient air compressor which has reduced our monthly energy usage and qualified Altek for a significant rebate through our local energy company.

The Spokane Valley Chamber of Commerce hosted

“Creating a Culture of High Performance” workshop on June 13, 2024.  It was led by

Dr. Wade Larson, international speaker, author, career coach, consultant and HR guru.   Dr. Larson’s wisdom greatly inspired Altek towards further development of the Altek’s organizational culture.  A positive culture is of the utmost importance to Altek’s leadership team. The implementation of the knowledge gained from this workshop will bring the organization that much closer to achieving cultural excellence.  Thank you, Dr. Wade and the Spokane Valley Chamber of Commerce.

Congratulations, Altek!

Altek flew Mike Winnett, Tooling Process and Engineering Manager, and Bob Dyer, Mold Process Technician, to Orlando, Florida to attend the 2024 NPE Plastics Show.  The two learned a lot of innovative strategies to bring back to Altek in hopes of "upping our game" in the plastics industry.

Bob stated, "The highlight of the show was experiencing the cutting-edge technology that was being implemented in the modern manufacturing industry.  The show was eye opening and the "wheels" in our heads are turning."

Both Mike and Bob appreciated making new connections with many wonderful people in the plastics industry.
